Wildlife Safari Tour

Elk, 'Wapiti', Cervus elaphus. Two males, "bulls", vying for females, "cows", during rut on the Colorado Plateau of Northern Arizona. One of the most spectacular animals seen on the Wildlife Safari Jeep tour.

Venture into the wilderness with us for a chance to see elk, deer, turkey, coyote, fox, bobcat, black bear, insects, snakes and more!

ronghorn antelope, Antilocapra americana, male. Often seen in the open grasslands west of Sedona, and on top of the Mogollon Rim.

Sedona is unparalleled in the Southwest in that three different biological life zones are within a twenty-minute Jeep ride of each other. This gives you the unique opportunity to view species of all three types of environments. Learn the biology and the conservation of the amazing wildlife in this region. You will have the opportunity to call in predators in their natural habitat. Gain an appreciation for the amazing ecological balance that exists in Sedona's wild backcountry.

Desert tarantula, Aphonopelma chalcodes, male. Typically seen July through October throughout Sedona and Northern Arizona on many of our Jeep tours. These nature tours run only 2 times per day; The first tour leaves ½ hour before dawn and the last tour returns ½ hour after dusk. Road conditions vary, as do the routes we use. This tour is about sighting animals, and less about the four-wheeling, though we may cross rugged terrain in search of animals in their natural environment. Your Safari Jeep Tours guide represents years of experience and education in wildlife biology and range management. A variety of "critter" demonstrations may be experienced, including hands on with our people-friendly pet snakes or tarantulas.
